Leveraging Continuous Monitoring with Splunk to Support Compliance Requirements
The Trump Administration has called for a tighter focus on risk management measures, reporting, and agency implementation of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. Compliance is no longer a ""check the box"" activity.
This session will show how organizations can apply an automated solution to enable continuous monitoring of security controls, create dashboards that enable timely analysis and accurate reporting to support the requirements of multiple frameworks. Back to Agenda
Get More from Your Machine Data with Splunk AI

Analytics Through DevOps Lifecycle
One of the often-cited barriers to DevOps success is visibility across the organization and the plethora of tools. DevOps should break down the department silos. But many tools show their data in a single-tool view, maintaining the silo. Splunk, as a data and analytics platform, provides visibility by collecting and presenting the data from many tools across the DevOps Lifecycle, from planning to dev/test to deploy and monitoring in production. Agile development teams can measure velocity across sprints and releases, finding healthy projects as well as those with hygiene issues, adding to tech debt. With Splunk, you can have end-to-end visibility enabling better collaboration and true data-driven decisions. Back to Agenda
Intro to Security Analytics Methods
Whether you're looking to reduce breaches, set up monitoring to anticipate attacks, or build more predictive capabilities, you will learn to apply the power of Splunk’s search processing language (SPL) via the Splunk Security Essentials App. We'll also present how to tighten your security with actionable searches that you can use immediately. All of the examples will have demo data, but you will see how you can apply custom data in your own environment. In this session, you will learn how to:
- Optimize and make Splunk search work for you, so you can quickly gain insights into your data to identify and describe security impacts and potential threats
- Detect unusual and potentially malicious activity using Splunk Enterprise statistical and behavioral analysis capabilities
- Find unusual activities Back to Agenda
Enabling Efficient Government with Splunk
FITARA, IT Modernization, MGT Act and a myriad of other legislations and EOs are accelerating digital transformation at agencies. Agencies have to embrace new paradigms such as DevOps, move workloads to the cloud, embrace shared services to enable future architectures and meet data center optimization mandates. This session will discuss how Splunk can help agencies successfully navigate their IT modernization journeys and help make confident and informed decisions to overcome challenges along the way. Back to Agenda
Getting Data In
Splunk is a powerful platform that can harness your machine data and turn it into valuable information, so your business can make informed decisions. Splunk is only as powerful as the data it has access to, so in this session we will walk through how to successfully onboard data, with samples of data ranging from simple to complex. We will also be taking a look at how to use common TAs to bring valuable data into Splunk. This session is designed to give you a better understanding of how to onboard data into Splunk and enable you to unlock the power of your data. Back to Agenda
Predictive, Proactive and Collaborative ML With Splunk ITSI
The predictive capabilities from the Machine Learning Took Kit (MLTK) combined with Splunk ITSI’s event analytics capabilities give operations teams the opportunity to proactively act on an event before it becomes an outage. This session will detail and demonstrate how to combine Splunk ITSI with the MLTK to predict a service health score, proactively take action based on those predictions, and publish to your collaborative messaging system, such as Slack. We will also be sharing advanced search commands for novel tactics you can employ for better incident management. Back to Agenda
Accelerate Incident Response Using Automation and Orchestration
Are you overwhelmed with security alerts? Would you like a way to automate and orchestrate the crucial steps of incident response? In this session, we will illustrate approaches to accelerate incident response decisions at machine speed. You’ll learn about ways to augment your SOC and empower SecOps by leveraging Splunk's Adaptive Response (AR) and Phantom Security Operations Platform. We will walk through adaptive response actions and discuss how to use Phantom playbooks to reduce the incident response time. Back to Agenda
Keeping Agency Operations Humming with Event Analytics
With digital transformation fundamentally changing IT operations environments, IT staff are finding it increasingly difficult to deliver on SLAs and meet mission priorities. Resource constraints, complexity of tools and heterogeneity of systems are not helping either. And with a lack of holistic visibility government IT operations and NOC staff are finding it difficult to meet expectations. This session will speak to how Splunk’s IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) solutions can keep them from falling behind and deluged with disparate alerts. ITSI helps them model their services holistically and using data gathered from across the service components, help index and correlate them and have them available for analysis including the ability to measure key KPIs of the service. Participants will also learn about how event analytics driven by machine learning and service insights combine to get them over the modernization hurdle and deliver services to meet mission and program goals.
