Overview:

We have built a custom hands-on workshop designed to demonstrate how you can leverage Splunk for healthcare analytics and turn data into doing. This workshop introduces a set of commands that allow a user to effectively examine any healthcare related data and easily identify causation or correlation. The workshop will leverage several data sources including COVID19 activity and vaccine distributions, along with an extra data source to correlate against the COVID19 activity data. Our goal is to allow attendees to leave with a better understanding of how to Splunk can be an effective, every day tool for CDC Epidemiology.

The workshop agenda is approximately 2 hours and includes:

  • Familiarization with the Splunk interface
  • Searching fundamentals
  • Introduction to key Splunk commands
  • Analytics and dashboard creations
Workshop Data:

The workshop data is sourced from several locations including datasets from data.world and healthdata.gov:

  • COVID19 activity including new cases and deaths by county
  • Moderna and Pfizer vaccine distributions
  • Supplemental data sources to correlate with the COVID19 data
